- Choose a resource. Select a COMAP module or curricular resource to refresh. It could be anything you’re familiar with or encounter while exploring our library. Here are some examples of modules that are ready for a refresh:

COMAP will credit the original authors, all new authors and co-authors.
COMAP Refresh Challenge Membership is similar to a COMAP Full Membership and gives you access to all the resources available for download from comap.org. COMAP Refresh Challenge Memberships will expire at the end of the 2025 R4R Challenge 12/31/2025.
You may use any inanimate source of data, materials, computers, software, references, websites, etc. You should reference all sources used using footnotes, endnotes, or in-line documentation, and include an associated reference list citing all sources. When possible, please obtain permission for material that is not obviously free to use for educational purposes. Copyrighted material without permission from the source might need to be recreated by COMAP.

By revising materials for the Refresh for Relevance contest, you grant COMAP royalty-free license to include your revised resource in the COMAP library and distribute it freely for educational purposes.
You will have the opportunity to choose the levels during the form submission.
A good submission will be complete and teacher-ready for use with their students. Include the standard elements of a lesson plan, such as, and as appropriate:
- topic
- unit or lesson summary
- grade or subject and any prerequisites
- most relevant standards & practices (e.g., NCTM, CCSS, etc.)
- timing/pacing of the lesson(s)
- teacher notes
- resources/instructional materials (for example and as applicable: student ready handouts, readings, presentation slides, videos, assessments, etc.)
- references for teacher
- reflections on your classroom use (if available)
- acknowledgements, references, and permissions for any copyrighted materials
- etc. (as applicable)
The three period deadlines for 2025 are: June 30, September 30, and December 31; submissions received by each deadline will be eligible for awards for that period.
All complete submissions will be entered in drawings for gift cards. Authors of outstanding work can earn stipends ranging up from $250 through grants to attend a math education conference. The reviewers are mathematicians, math educators, and others who are in fields directly related to mathematics education.
One submission in each of the three periods; ask for pre-approval to submit more.
You must be open and honest about all your uses of AI tools, including embedded AI (e.g., code-copilots and other AI assisted auto-complete technologies, etc.). The more transparent your submission is, the more likely it is that your work can be fully trusted, appreciated, and correctly used by others. These disclosures aid in understanding the development of intellectual work and in the proper acknowledgement of contributions. Without open and clear citations and references of the role of AI tools, it is more likely that questionable passages and work could be identified as plagiarism and not accepted.
Yes, all submission must be in English.
Submissions should be in common electronic file formats (e.g., Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Google files, Geogebra, MP3, etc.) consisting of written text, figures, charts, and supporting materials. You are encouraged to use any resources available to you such as video, spreadsheets, slides, math or educational apps, or any other resource that you feel will help to enrich the materials.
