High School
Comparing Taxed, Tax-Deferred, and Tax-Sheltered Investments
Author: Floyd Vest
It is said that the average American family is two paychecks away from having inadequate funds for food and shelter. Yet Americans save only 4% while Japanese save 16%. Students' financial demands on parents compete with their parents' needs to save for retirement. These concerns are relevant to high school students since many will contribute to a retirement program as soon as they go to work. The average American is not necessarily financially informed and responsible. By studying the mathematics of finance, students gain important skills for managing and understanding financial challenges.
