ResourceMAP - Volume - Teacher Edition

ResourceMAP modules are relatively short and designed for flexible implementation; that is, they can be used in regular classes as well as in special test-preparation settings. Each module contains a set of contextual problems in several formats: multi-part open response, short response, and multiple-choice. Accompanying the problem set are tip sheets that serve several purposes including lists of formulas, calculator instruction, and brief reviews of the module's underlying mathematics. Also provided are teacher notes (the module purpose, the mathematical focus, and implementation commentary), answers to all problems, and (in a few cases) handout masters.

Volume

Geometric solids are all around you. Walk through almost any retail store and you seemany. Among them are boxes shaped like rectangular prisms and cans shaped likecylinders. To do its job, a container must have the right volume. Those who designcontainers must know how to calculate volume.

Tip Sheets

Two Tip Sheets accompany this module.
• Formulas: This Tip Sheet is appropriate if you use this module for testpreparation and this sheet is similar to the one your students will use on thetest. However, we strongly recommend that you use the formula sheet yourstudents will use on the test or that you ask students to do this module withfew, if any, supplied formulas. (Note: You can hide formulas on this TipSheet by covering them with pieces of white paper before copying.)
• Volume: This Tip Sheet can be used to review volume if your students needsuch a review.
